French director, animator and all-round cake genius, Alexandre Dubosc, has created the latest in his series of entertaining zoetrope cakes.
Whilst Dubosc’s patisserie skills might be the envy of most aspiring bakers Dubosc prefers to be referred to as an ‘auteur-experimentateur’. Using the pre-film animation technique of zoetrope Dubosc puts the images he creates into motion through turning. And what better medium to use than a giant chocolate cake.
This cake entitled 'Melting POP' is just one in a range that Dubosc has created as part of a series. Have a look at some of the photos depicting the intricate behind the scenes work that went into this animated cake.
Currently he works using different mediums to explore “in an inventive way the limits of a ‘food’ fascination through image and words” he explains on his website with the intention being to "install..a game between the viewer and the intimate objects of our fridge that we think we know."
We defy you not to smile as greedy pac men chase candy, and chocolate tongues gobble up popcorn. Sit back and be mesmerised by the cake in a spin. Enjoy.
