The website grabbing everyone’s attention at the moment is the Food Porn Index, a dazzling display of just how many of us are using social media to speak about our food.
The website monitors a number of different food hashtags on Twitter and Instgram and displays a visual wall of information relating to how many times terms such as #pizza, #pie and #bacon are mentioned compared with more healthy hashtags like #kale, #beets and #pomegranate.
The website was developed by Bolthouse Farms who told the LA Times the idea was to start a conversation about the foods we eat after they found that unhealthy hashtags are mentioned nearly three times as much as healthy ones.
The site updates every fifteen minutes with a run down of how many times each word is being mentioned. At the moment, as you might imagine, the junk food is beating the healthy mentions by a pretty startling ratio but the whole idea is to highlight this trend and hopefully change our hashtag habits.
Take a look at the Index and make sure to click on the boxes, it’s a wall of food porn.
