In a move that’s been echoed by some of the biggest chefs across the fine dining industry, Eleven Madison Park will close for renovation on June 9th and relocate to the Hamptons for a summer pop-up.
Following the trend of many New Yorkers in the summer, the entire EMP crew will relocate to the Hamptons as they set about running what is being called the ‘EMP Summer House’.

The New York Times reports the pop-up will be a much more casual offering than EMP with an indoor dining room and one under a tent complete with picnic tables for larger style dinners.
Renovating while hosting a pop-up is a move that many chefs have used. Grant Achatz renovated Alinea while on hosting pop-ups in Madrid and Miami, and Heston Blumenthal recently renovated the Fat Duck during the time his restaurant crew popped up in Australia. It’s actually a smart business move that ensures restaurants retain valuable staff on pay while their business is closed.
The newly renovated Eleven Madison Park restaurant is expected to reopen in September.
