Aqua restaurant in the picturesque north Dublin seasside fishing village of Howth has been named the world’s best seafood restaurant at the World Luxury Awards.
It is the restaurant’s forth consecutive year to win the accolade, this year adding the Best Seaside Restaurant in Europe Award to its cabinet as well.
"It's a huge honour, it's the fourth consecutive year we've won, and it's by public vote," the restaurant's manager Charlie Smith said.
"Unfortunately none of us were able to attend the ceremony but we're absolutely thrilled.
"It's a huge boost for the team - we always try and promote high standards. Its unique selling point is the location - overlooking Dublin Bay. It's the whole package.
The town Howth is a well loved beauty spot just north of the city and is a regular day trip for locals and tourists alike who climb Howth Head for stunning views over Dublin Bay before dropping in for a pint in one of he village’s famous pubs or lingering for dinner in the evening.
The village is the last remaining working fishing village in Dublin and it is for this reason the destination is synonymous with woderful fresh fish that comes straight off the boat.
Ireland and its capital Dublin is enjoying a specacular growth in its restaurant and food scene, redifining what Irish food is all about. Another Dublin restaurant Sole Seafood and Grill on South William Street, was also a winner at the awards ceremony in St. Petersburg picking up the gong for Best Seafood Restaurant in Europe.
The 2019 awards saw 850 entries from across Europe, with restaurants shortlisted after a four-week period of voting.
