You finally took that giant leap and decided to sell your home. You've renovated, redecorated and hired a realtor. Don't sabotage all that hard work by cooking foods that leave an unpleasant lingering smell in your home.
While the smell of bacon may lift your spirits in the morning, interior decorator Jennifer Schweikert, from Just My Style By JMS in Virginia, says its best not to touch it. She also recommends staying away from fried foods and cruciferious vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage.
Asian or Indian takeout? That's also a no-no on Jennifer's list. Another big turn off for potential buyers is the smell of burnt popcorn, she warns.
So what foods can you actually help you sell your home? The sweet aroma of cookies. No surprise there. Jennifer recommends popping a few cookies in the oven to entice prospective buyers. Just make sure you don't burn them!
