The best cookbooks of 2011 have been rounded up during the 17th edition of The Gourmand Awards 2012. Each year the awards compile a selection of authors, publishers, food writers and photographers and present them across a number of categories. Best authors and chefs, best publishers and even a selection for best chef apps.
Wine, beer, travel and of course cooking all get a mention as the selection covers a diverse group of books from around the world. The event was also hosted alongside the Paris Cookbook Fair, a place to sample some of the best cookbooks on the planet. All the winners can be found in an interactive online magazine which features some great pictures and would itself make a lovely book.
Congratulations to all the winners and a special mention to those who have featured on FDL. Sergio Coimbra for taking first spot in the photography section for his magnificent collection of food pictures presented in a limited edition book that folds out displaying huge pictures of the photographers work. And Modernist Cuisine which came second in the printing section for their mammoth 6 series collection on the movement of modernist cooking.
