While it may true that when one thinks of “bubbly”, Champagne comes to mind, the Franciacorta region of Italy has become increasingly renowned over the years for its spumante wine. And the Bellavista vineyard exemplifies the absolute best of this region. With over one hundred grapevines in ten different municipalities of Franciacorta, the Bellavista company began in 1977, but includes vineyards dating back to the 15th Century.
Fine Dining Lovers paid a visit to the Bellavista headquarters, in its breathtaking position (the name Bellavista literally means, “beautiful view”) on Monte Orfano and met with the enologist Mattia Vezzola and the daughter of the founder of the Bellavista label, Francesca Moretti. Moretti explains her father’s vision and his desire to invest in this unique region more than 35 years ago, while Vezzola takes us on a tour through the Bellavista vineyards and cellars, explaining his personal philosophy regarding oxidation and the ageing process.
