In what feels like the inevitable amalgamation of some of the most popular recent food trends, namely anything involving burgers and the centrepiece of any millennial brunch, the avocado, we present to you the monster that is the avocado burger bun.
The avocado burger bun was dreamt up by Colette Dike, founder of Amsterdam–based FoodDeco, a recipe and food styling website. So far the reaction has been pretty favourable across Instagram, with thousands of likes for the vibrantly green creations.
Dyke suggests a chickpea burger with vegan mayo (read the recipe here), a breakfast burger with feta, bacon and egg, or a standard cheeseburger (standard apart from being sandwiched in an avocado).

They look far from easy to eat however – we can’t imagine gripping onto a slippery avocado bun with any great success, so cutlery needed, which is a mark down in our eyes. But hey, we won't knock them until we've tried them, although it does feel like we might be reaching peak food trend here. Or did we achieve that particular milestone with these popsicles made from bone broth.
