Ana Roš wins three Michelin stars with her restaurant Hiša Franko

The highest accolade of the 'Red Book' comes to Slovenia: Ana Roš is the eighth woman chef in the world to win the prestigious award 

Undoubtedly Ana Roš has contributed to changing the fortunes of Slovenian and world gastronomy, and now her long professional adventure is crowned with her third Michelin star. The 'Red Book’ has awarded Ana Roš the highest tribute for her restaurant Hiša Franko in Kobarid. The news comes three years after the debut of the Michelin Guide Slovenia, which has awarded Roš' restaurant two Michelin stars from the very beginning.   

Now a further step towards the Olympus of haute cuisine: Ana Roš is the eighth woman in the world with three Michelin stars to her name. 

Ana Roš: from the title of World's Best Female Chef to three Michelin stars 

Long before the Michelin Guide Slovenia came out, the chef was voted Best Female Chef in 2017 by The World's 50 Best Restaurants, which in its latest edition placed Hiša Franko in position number 32, among the world's top 50 restaurants in 2023. Today, with three Michelin stars, she is the eighth woman in the world to win the guide's highest accolade, alongside the likes of Nadia Santini, Elena Arzak, Dominique Crenn, Annie Feolde, Anne-Sophie Pic, Hélène Darroze and Clare Smyth. 

Through a record-breaking and distinguished career, Roš has succeeded in transforming a mountain village in the far west of Slovenia, not far from the Italian border, into a veritable temple of signature cuisine. A great sensitivity to the land, small producers and to the surrounding nature characterize the chef's approach: a green philosophy and a series of practices focused on sustainability, which have also earned her a Michelin green star.
