Decorated Michelin French chef Alain Ducasse has today announced that he will be opening a branch of his chocolate shop, Le Chocolat Alain Ducasse, in North London.
Set inside Coal Drops Yard, a new shopping destination in King’s Cross, the shop is scheduled to open in October 2018, joining 50 other independent stores and restaurants.
"Coal Drops Yard was a natural fit, fusing the traditional with the contemporary — the perfect setting for my chocolate, the fruit of a precise craft itself,” he told the Evening Standard.
While the chocolates will continue to be handcrafted by trusted artisan chocolatier Nicolas Berger at 40 rue de la Roquette, in Paris, fans will be able to pick up favourites like his chocolate bars, with 53 different types to choose from, flavoured ganaches, pralinés and truffles.
Ducasse applies the same meticulous quest for the finest ingredients in the kitchen to his love of chocolate making where "selected cocoa beans based on their purity as much as on their personality. Each taste is unique to its origin. Each bean is worked according to its character. To keep the purity."
In the meantime, here's a peek inside his Paris shop where that quest for the best plays out ...
