Bocuse d'Or Europe: The European Selection is Coming
Twenty countries will compete in the European selection round of the prestigious culinary competition on 11 and 12 June. Find out who and how.
Italy is preparing to raise the curtain on the European selection of the Bocuse d'Or, the prestigious international gastronomic competition, sponsored by S.Pellegrino, which will see 20 countries compete over an intense two days.
This exciting challenge will take place in Turin, Italy, on 11 and 12 June 2018 during the Gourmet Expoforum at the Oval Lingotto in the heart of Piedmont, a region world famous for its local prouduce.
The European selection of Bocuse d'Or follows on from the Americas in Mexico, and the Asia-Pacific, in Guangzhou. It's the final challenge before all the competitiors are selected to go on to Lyon for the world final, which takes place in January 2019 during Sirha, the world trade fair for the catering and hotel industries
This final rite of passage will see twenty determined European countries try to convince the judges that they are the best candidates to be sent through to the final in Lyon where only ten teams will enter the French final of 2019.
The European Selection Culinary Challenge
Each team will be compposed of the candidate, their commis and their coach. They will have two tests to demonstrate their skills showcasing local Piedmontese products like white truffles and Fassona beef.
1. Theme on a plate - Candidates will have to prepare 14 plates to be tasted by the jury.
2. Theme on a platter - Each candidate will prepare and set up their recipe on a large silvertray before plating it for the presentation to the jury.
On top of celebrating these famous Piedmontese products, each candidate will have to make the difference by adding his personal touch and country heritage in his dishes.
