Michelin Guide Guangzhou 2019: See the full list

Michelin Guide Guangzhou 2019 has been released, with news of the first two Michelin starred restaurant making the listing plus an increase in the city's total number of Michelin starred restaurants, rising from eight to eleven.

Jiang By Chef Fei , located at the Mandarin Oriental hotel, claims the title as the city's first restaurant to be nominated two Michelin stars, and rises from its one star status in the guide's inaugural edition. The Cantonese restaurant's kitchens are headed up by Chef Fei where an extensive menu of seafood, Cantonese BBQ and dim sum are served, including dishes like marinated jelly fish with aged black vinegar, Jiangnan marinated duck tongues, Roasted Wenchang chicken with flaxseeds and foie gras cherries.

Three restaurants joined the one Michelin star listing, taking the total number of one star restaurants up to ten. There are not yet any three Michelin starred restaurants in the city. Michelin Guide Guangzhou 2019 also includes 28 Bib Gourmands, places that offer diners good value for money, and 40 places with Michelin Plates, covering a breadth of 18 cuisines including Cantonese, Indian, Indonesian and Singaporean.

Speaking of the city's richly diverse dining scene, international director of Michelin Guides Gwendal Poullennec said, "Since the inaugural edition of the MICHELIN Guide Guangzhou last year, our inspectors have been very impressed with the evolution of the gastronomic scene in the city.Not only have they discovered exciting new restaurants—the selection has increased from 63 to 79 establishments—but they have also found a wider range of cuisine types to entice diners.”
