The #50BestTalks event, from The World's 50 Best Restaurants, which brings together the world’s top food leaders to discuss the biggest issues facing gastronomy, will arrive in Bogota, Colombia on 29 October.
The event, sponsored by Miele, joins five chefs from across Latin America in the warm up event ahead of Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants awards ceremony, sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna, which you can live-stream on Fine Dining Lovers on 30 October.
The theme for this first edition to be held in Latin America is “Meat: The Future." Chefs from Argentina, Brazil and Mexico and Colombia will gather onstage and discuss their approach to meat, vegetables and alternative sources of protein in countries that have high meat consumption.
Forming the line-up is Chef Jefferson Rueda from Sao Paolo's pork based restaurant, A Casa do Porco, Narda Lepes from Narda Comedor in Buenos Aires serving plant based cuisine, Édgar Nuñez from Mexico City's Sud777 and panellists Leonor Espinosa, Latin America's Best Female Chef 2017 from restaurant Leo in Bogota, Colombia joined by Argentina’s king of meat Pablo Rivero from Don Julio in Buenos Aires.
The #50BestTalks series kicked off in Macau earlier this year, ahead of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants ceremony, when chefs like Andre Chiang and Japanese chef Hiroe Higuchi took to discuss "identity." In June the #50BestTalks event moved to San Sebastian in Spain ahead of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018 when seven of the world’s best chefs reflected on the "life cycle" of food from conception to consumption: Joan Roca, Eneko Atxa, Gaggan Anand, Clare Smyth, Dan Barber, Paul Pairet and Christina Tosi.
