With the launch of the Michelin Guide for Great Britain & Ireland 2017, England gained a new two–starred establishment with The Raby Hunt restaurant in Darlington claiming its place on the star tier.
Run and operated by chef James Close, the restaurant has become a go to dining destination in the North of England, gaining praise from a number of critics and dragging even more away from their London–centric dining habits.
Smoked eel, raw scallops, perfectly sliced lard melting on top of crispy toast – the food is simple, flavourful and clean in both taste and presentation. Food Critic Jay Rayner described Close's food as "simple and excruciatingly effective."
To celebrate their success and to give you all a look at some of the food that has wowed Michelin, we’ve rounded up a collection of dishes from The Raby Hunt.
