BillionaireTesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has long talked about opening a restaurant/diner chain, and it looks like now his plans are beginning to solidify with a patent lodged with the US Trademark Office.
The application was made to the United States Patent and Trademark Office under the category 'Restaurant services, pop-up restaurant services, self-service restaurant services, take-out restaurant services'. It includes a signature 'T' logo, 'Tesla', and a version of the brand name for use in the food industry.
It means that Musk was serious when he spoke about Tesla offering entertainment and hospitality services at their charging centres around the US. He has previously posted about opening a retro-style diner – ““old-school drive-in, roller skates and rock restaurant at one of the new supercharger locations in Los Angeles”. Tesla has experimented with self-service food and beverage stations as well as rest and lounge areas at their charging centres.
There are no details on the type of food that the Tesla restaurants might offer. Elon’s brother, Kimbal Musk, who sits on Tesla’s board of directors and is a chef, restauranteur and entrepreneur, owns The Kitchen Restaurant Group and a whole slew of community and gardening focused non-profits. He is also the fifth-largest shareholder of his brother’s company.
It is not yet known if you will be able to pay for your burgers with Bitcoin.
