"Milan continues to cook: the world of gastronomy and Italian creativity do not stop." This is the message launched by Milan Keeps On Cooking, an initiative of over 40 chefs, pizza makers and pastry chefs from Milan, created by Alessia Rizzetto PR & Communication agency.
Chefs in the Milanese city, among the strongholds of Italian catering, have shared photos on social media in which they wear aprons that send a message, #milanokeepsoncooking.
A special apron and an international message, to remind the whole world that the creativity of "Made in Italy" does not stop - even at such a difficult time, in which chefs first closed their restaurants out of social responsibility before a government mandate enforced a nationwide policy.
Among the chefs and restaurant entrepreneurs supporting the initiative are - in alphabetical order - Mattia Accarino, Marco Ambrosino, Enrico Bartolini, Andrea Berton, Cesare Battisti, Eugenio Boer, Fabrizio Borraccino, Daniel Canzian, Nicola Cavallaro, Roberto Di Pinto, Gianluca Fusto, Antonio Guida, Ernst Knam, Filippo La Mantia, Martina Miccione, Davide Oldani, Mathias Perdomo, Wicky Priyan, Eugenio Roncoroni, Laura Santosuosso, Lorenzo Sirabella, Luigi Taglienti, Matteo Torretta, Viviana Varese, Simone Zanon and Andrea Zazzara.
Meanwhile, the project is reaching chefs from all over Italy and beyond, so much so that the organizers have decided to put their aprons on sale and donate the proceeds to the Luigi Sacco Hospital in Milan, the hospital at the forefront of the fight against Coronavirus.
But the #MilanoKeepsOnCooking campaign goes even further than that. At a time when everyone is asked to stay at home, according to the last decree-law in which the "red zone" was extended to the whole country until April 3, the chefs who joined the campaign will share their recipes online on the Instagram page @milanokeepsoncooking, complete with English subtitles.
Not only is it a great way for chefs to stay close to their customers and the whole community, giving a video recipe in which they can try their hand at during quarantine, it's also a way of reminding the whole world of the gastronomic ferment that characterizes Milan and the great tradition of Italian cuisine.
