Wine lovers prepare for the return of Vinitaly, Italy's leading wine fair which will be in Verona in Italy from 5 to 9 April.
The enormous show is one of a kind for wine lovers boasting four days of tastings with the finest Italian and international wines paired with gourmet street food specialities.
Considered to be the most important wine fair in Italy and in Europe, it also boasts some impressive statistics with over 128,000 visitors from 143 countries attending last year.
Here are the main highlights to look out for:
Vinitaly Design
For wine buyers, sommeliers and enthusiasts there'll be a chance to check out the latest wine gadgets in the new space "Vinitaly Design" dedicated to wine accessories and products from objects for tasting and service, to furnishings for wineries, wine bars and restaurants, up to personalized and gift packaging.
VinitalyBio
Vinitaly will also be going green with Vinitalybio - a space dedicated to certified organic wine made in Italy and abroad reflecting the growing consumer interest in organic wines along with a "Bio" wine store.
International wines
Last year saw the International Wine Pavilion hosted stands from producers from 35 countries and this year looks set to be equally impressive. It's a great opportunity to try wines from around the world in one spot. This year there'll be an increased presence from French companies and Hungary and double the number of companies from Spain plus a new entry with Croatia as well as twice the number of dedicated tasting rooms.
Wine Tasting
The program of tastings is one of the most attractive parts of Vinitaly's offer to visiting wine enthusiasts. One of the novelties of this year will be the master classes dedicated to artisan wines, created in collaboration with the Vi.te.
Vinitaly and the City
"Vinitaly & the city" showroom will have a series of initiatives aimed at spreading the culture of wine from 5 to 8 April. On the eve of Vinitaly 2019, OperaWine will present the Grand Tasting of the top 103 Italian wines selected by Wine Spectator, in the only event organized abroad by the important US magazine.
