Save the Date: International Alba White Truffle Fair, Italy

Alba is all set to host the headiest scented food festival in the world, in the 85th annual International White Truffle Fair. Running from October 11th to November 15th this unique month long festival celebrates of one of the world's rarest and most presious gastranomic treasures, the White truffle of Alba.

Taking place in the city centre of Alba, a town at the foothills of the Italian Alps, the fair will offer plenty of opportunities to enjoy truffles in all their splendour in a fun filled festival atmosphere of folklore, culture, cuisine, show-cooking, workshops, and the White Truffle Market.

Inside this unique market local truffle hunters and vendors will be offering their prized finds carefully displayed by size and weight. Last year a kilo of white truffle cost up to €2500, which was nothing compared to 2012 where they went up to an eye-watering €5000 a kilo. The fair is also a great venue to check out some other of Piedmont's superior produce including hazlenuts and the world famous red wines of Barolo, Barbaresco and Nebbiolo. Cheese, fresh pastas, cured meat producers will also be on offer from local producers, as well as a temporary kitchen serving up local specialities.
