During her recent speech at the MAD3 Symposim in Copenhagen, Vandana Shiva shared facts about the tragic effect monopolized industrial agriculture has had in her native India and other parts of the world.
Farmer suicides, debt, malnutrition are the result of what has become an agriculture of war, she said. Shiva challenged chefs to have the guts to stand up against genetically modified seeds in a movement she calls ''food freedom.''
Shiva, a trail blazer who left her job in physics to become an activist for biodiversity, has spent 40 years fiercely defending seed freedom, farmers and animal welfare. Watch her in action:
