A new documentary called Constructing Albert, a film we reported on back in the funding stage, offers a window into the world of Spanish chef Albert Adrià, as he attempts to break free from his brother Ferran Adrià's shadow and create a mini empire in Barcelona, with restaurants such as Tickets, Pakta and his latest, Enigma.
Some would argue Albert is one of the most criminally overlooked chefs in the world. While the charismatic Ferran was busy making the headlines, his fame-shy younger brother was beavering away behind the scenes at elBulli, helping drive the iconic restaurant’s relentless creativity.
Whilst hugely influential and inspirational, Ferran casts a long shadow over his younger brother, both personally and professionally you feel, and the film promises interesting insights into the pair's dynamic.
Constructing Albert will debut at the San Sebastian Film Festival later this month, alongside Michelin Stars – Tales from the Kitchen, a new film focused on the world of Michelin and the passion and personalities that help define it.
