S.Pellegrino celebrated its 120-year anniversary on 9 January 2020 at Regent Hotel Taipei, Taiwan. To mark the event the 2017 World’s Best Female Chef Ana Roš, Asia’s Best Female Chef for 2016 Margarita Forés and 2017 Asia’s Best Female Chef May Chow were invited to talk about their secrets to success alongside four prominent businesswomen from Taiwan’s food industry who told their stories about reshaping Taiwan’s dining scene.
The event gathered the Asian gastronomy community to enhance female talents from the hospitality industry, recognizing that the gastronomic industry can be challenging, and, in some cases, it can lack diversity.
This is the reason why S.Pellegrino will be supporting Women in Gastronomy, a concept developed by Gastronauts Asia with the aim of celebrating all women who make a difference in the culinary world, not only inviting them to share their talent and creativity but also asking them to share their encouraging stories.
During the summit in Tapei, S.Pellegrino also invited successful females from the Food & Beverage industry: Mandy Yang, Director of Silks Palace, analyzed the contemporary food culture in Taiwan; Stephanie Ho, the General Manager of Green and Safe, said that, to her, a great dish is not only tasty but also connects to the local flavours and culture; Wei Ku, the founder of COFE, spoke about Taiwanese teas and the special products you can obtain from them; Yi-Lan Yeh, the well-known gourmet, stated that the fever for local ingredients and the art of cooking is somewhat returning after hundreds of years of globalization and industrialization.
Cherry chicken liver mousse and fermented tofu Velouté pork by chef Vanessa Huang, kimchi pork burger and kumquat chicken breast by chef Justine Li, hand drip coffee from Fika Fika, and Taiwanese Oolong tea brewed with Acqua Panna mineral water prepared by barista Shih-Yu Wang along with tea ceremony mania Yi-An Lu were some of the dishes served during the event in Taipei.
