We're always hearing that sugar is as addictive as cocaine but with one look at this infographic from the Online Nursing Programs website you can see exactly just what affect sugar's addictive property is having on food consumption in America.
It looks at the average sugar consumption in America in 1822 and compares it with today while using some strong visuals to try and express just how much sugar is being consumed throughout the States.
From an average of 45 grams of sugar in 1822 to an average of 765 grams in 2012 - the chart goes some way in really helping to visual just how much sugar is being eaten.
For example in one image it shows that the average American will consume around over 3,000 pounds of sugar in their lifetime, enough to fill a dumpster or enough sugar for way over 1 million Skittles.
