S.Pellegrino Sapori Ticino, the annual gourmet festival with an illustrious line-up of lakeside dinners and star-studded chef events returns on 8 April, closing in spectacular style on 16 June.
This year, for the 13th edition, haute cuisine is coming home to Switzerland and partnering with Les Grandes Tables de Suisse and chef of the year Heiko Nieder, highlighting the strength of the Swiss gastronomic scene in the small country with a growing number of Michelin starred restaurants (see this year's Michelin guide) plus some of the world's finest chefs.
Dany Stauffacher, patron of the festival, explains, "it is often said that Switzerland, a country with four different languages and influenced by many different cultures does not have its own culinary identity. After travelling all over Switzerland and its restaurants, I assure you that our nation is truly one of a kind, starting with its cuisine. Eclectic, experimental but with solid foundations, rich in talents and passion: Swiss cuisine deserved a stage of excellence to tell itself to the public in all its wonder and we are proud to offer it to them ".
The spectacular Swiss Canton of Ticino Switzerland will host most of the19 dinners unfolding in stunning locations around the glistening lake, with an opening gala dinner on the 8 and 9 April and successive dinner dates right up to 16 June.
Twenty chefs with 22 Michelin stars between them, including culinary giants like Andre Jaeger, Franck Giovannini and Martin Dalsass will be cooking formal dinners in a number of luxury venues, while a trio of lounge nights will appeal to a younger or more relaxed audience of gourmets.
