The Alta Badia ski resort, on the Italian Dolomiti Alps in South Tyrol, has just hosted 2012 Chef's Cup: a gourmet competition, supported by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna, that combines the best food with snow and skiing races. If you are a Fine Dining Lover, don't miss our report!
2012 Chef's Cup was just the first event on the foodie agenda that S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna have prepared for this year. In Italian Switzerland, from April 15th to May 20th 2012, some of the region’s most famous chefs will host the young, emerging culinary talents of Europe. S.Pellegrino Sapori Ticino is an annual event that combines the haute cuisine of Switzerland, the country with the highest number of Michelin stars per capita, with international innovation and experimentation. We bring you to the Alps, so you can get to know the seven ambassadors of this initiative: here, you’ll find their portraits together with several of their recipes and favourite pairings – suggested exclusively for Fine Dining Lovers.
On April 30th, at London’s Guildhall, one of the most highly-anticipated foodie events of the year will be taking place: the World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards, which honours the best restaurants on the planet. Will Noma and chef René Redzepi conquer first place for the third year in a row?As we await the event, check out the video made from the 2011 edition, which will give you an inside peek into the evening.
And even in the summer, let’s not forget to mark (or program) our calendars. On June 22nd and 23rd Venice will be the location of the annual S.Pellegrino Cooking Cup, now in its 12th edition: a regatta that combines Italy’s passion for sailing and excellent cuisine. This is a challenge that plays out both on the lagoon, as well as the in the galley kitchen: with the race held between the Lido of Venice and the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, this event welcomes international sailors, skippers, chefs and fine dining lovers to this unique weekend.
Last year’s participants included a jury composed of an international A-list of chefs like Massimo Bottura, Elena Arzak, Inaki Aizpitarte and Carlo Cracco among others. Until this year’s contestants and judges are announced, we invite you to watch our exclusive video of last year’s regatta, which Fine Dining Lovers had the privelege of attending.
From Venice, let’s head to Tuscany, where the doors of the luxurious Villa Panna will open just a day later. Nestled among the hills of Mugello, in the locality of Scarperia, this Renaissance estate is a symbol of the tie between Acqua Panna (that took its name from the Villa) and the territory from which it comes. Every year, Fine Dining Lovers from around the world gather here for Tuscan Days: three delicious days that pay tribute to Tuscany and the uniqueness of Acqua Panna’s territory of origin.
In 2011 this homage was overseen by three renowned chefs: Carlo Cracco, Roland Trettl and Anatoly Komm all worked together to create a special, Tuscan-inspired menu. Typical dishes from the area were revisited in an original and unique way, as they explain and show us in this video. Chef Marco Stabile, instead, leads us through the ideation and preparation of a chic picnic in the traditional Tuscan style, but with a contemporary twist, resulting in a “chic-nic” that Stabile himself presents in this video.
And from the tie to the Tuscan territory, to the connection between two iconic Italian brands that represent the art of living: presenting the S.Pellegrino sparkles with Bulgari special edition bottle. For a limited time, this precious, bejewelled label adorns the S.Pellegrino bottles, featuring a necklace from the 1965 Bulgari Vintage collection, and served in the world’s best restaurants. If you’ve not yet had the chance to admire this bottle in person, this video will give you a preview glimpse.
After Missoni (in 2010) and Bulgari, who will represent, together with S.Pellegrino, the refined Italian spirit in 2012? To find out, you’ll just have to wait…
