London, home to some of the world’s best thinkers and drinkers, is now, naturally, the brewing ground for the world’s first beer produced through artificial intelligence: AI beer by IntelligentX.
This is how it works: each bottle of AI has a Facebook Messenger code on the label. If you enter this code into the Messenger app you’ll be briefly interrogated by a beer bot, which will then feed your comments back into the brewing process, with actual real live human brewers acting on your recommendations.
Algorithm
Evolution is at the core of AI then (let’s not open that particular can of worms though, eh), so essentially you’re unlikely to have the same tasting beer more than a handful of times, which in the craft beer–obsessed world we live in, can only be seen as a good thing.
The algorithm controlling all this, known as ABI (automated brewing intelligence), also has 1000 wildcard ingredients that it can add at any time, just to try a particular ingredient out, the naughty beer bot.
Oh, and all the recipes will be open source, so home brewers can join the party too.
Limited Edition
AI is currently available in small batches in four flavours – Amber, Pale, Golden and Black – from Ubrew. Watch the video below to find out more. Now excuse me, but I’m just off to meet my smartphone for a beer.
