The Michelin guide for Tokyo 2017 has been released and the big new is that there are now two new two-starred restaurants in the city, Anamoto and Miyasaka.
The three star category remains unchanged with Tokyo’s heavyweights all retaining their three star status.
The one star category took a boost with 16 restaurants gaining their first star in the guide. In total, the Tokyo Michelin Guide includes 12 restaurants with three stars, 54 restaurants with two stars and 161 restaurants with one star.

The Japanese love of French cuisine remains at a high with 53 of the restaurants listed classed as cooking French cuisine.
