Ron Finley, aka the Gangsta Gardener, is an LA-based horticulturalist who's been teaching the world how to use plants as a form of protest since way back.
His first act of 'defiance' as he calls it, or refusing to rely on big agriculture and fast food any longer, came a decade ago when he dug up a scrubby strip of land along a 10-foot-wide, 150-foot-long strip, between his house and the street.Planting fruit and veg like figs and kale and harvesting the rewards, a revolution was born, and the rest, as they say is history.
His Ted Talk, A Guerrilla Gardener in South Central LA, has chalked up over one million views, and he now has an inspiring Masterclass video teaching people around the world to grow their own fruit and veg.
Ron's message is simple, it's time to channel your inner gansta gardener, because, as Ron says, "if you ain’t a gardener, you ain’t gangsta."
