Lido 84, the contemporary Italian restaurant on the shores of Lake Garda in northern Italy run by brothers Riccardo and Giancarlo Camanini has been announced as the winner of the Miele One to Watch award ahead of The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2019 sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna.
The award is given to a restaurant "considered to be a rising star on an international level" recognising a restaurant outside the 1-50 list with the potential to rise into The World’s 50 Best Restaurants ranking, in the future. Previous winners have included SingleThread in California, Disfrutar in Barcelona, Den in Tokyo and Saison in San Francisco.
Speaking of the win Chef Riccardo commented: “We are extremely surprised and didn’t expect such a desirable recognition on an international level.” Co-owner Giancarlo added: “To be placed alongside those that represent the best in international gastronomic excellence has left us speechless.”
The unique family run restaurant is set in a renovated lido in the town of Gardone Riviera and has become a popular dining destination in the five years since its opening in 2014 with many travelling just for the creamy, aromatic and theatrical take on their cacio pepe classic cooked in a pork bladder.
The airy 35-cover space overlooks the water and is run by a team of 24, headed up by the brothers, showcasing the best of the local produce, from both the lake and the mountains. Riccardo Camanini, who counts Gualtiero Marchesi, Raymond Blanc, Jean-Louis Nomicos and Alain Ducasse amongst his mentors, leads the kitchen with creativity in his tasting menus and an a la carte menu.
The brothers are dedicated to delivering a harmonious dining experience, from the restaurant interiors to the dishes: “We are inspired by the concept of beauty,” says Giancarlo. “Beauty manifests itself in so many ways: not simply interior design, table settings, gardens or the place in which the restaurant is located; we also see beauty as working together as a family, which is reflected in our team members, some of whom have been with us since the launch of our restaurant in March 2014.”
The Camanini brothers will receive their award at The World's 50 Best Restaurants in Singapore on the 25th of June, the live-stream of which you can watch on Fine Dining Lovers.
