It’s the thought that lingers in the back of your head before every dinner party. Sure, having enough food is always a concern. That’s easy enough to calculate once you get a hold of recipes. Somehow figuring out how many bottles of wine you’ll need is a little bit trickier. Luckily, there’s an online wine calculator to help you out.
Brought to you by the talented folks at VinePair, this nifty wine bottle calculator works in just seconds. All you have to do is input the number of guests, whether or not there will be a cocktail hour, and which type of wine you'd like to serve. Voilà…the answer will appear right before your eyes.
Out of curiosity, we gave the wine bottle calculator a whirl. For a dinner for four without a cocktail hour and offering red wine only, the calculator recommend four bottles of wine (based on the assumption each person will consume three glasses). However, if we were to host a cocktail hour we’d need add a bottle of bubbly to the menu.
