Aside from great wine and olive oil, Tuscany is also known for its exquisite cheese, some of which will be highlighted at the upcoming Cheese 2013 festival.
From September 20-23 seven of Tuscany's artisan cheesemakers will display their gourmet products at the festival to be held near the city of Turin. Pecorino, a sharp cheese made from sheep's milk,will be presented in a variety of ways: studded wtih peppercorns, blended with saffron, seasoned with truffles and aged in chestnut leaves.
Visitors will be able to sample many other varieties of pecorino cheese, as well as fresh organic mozzarella from Tuscany, sheep's milk yogurt, goat's milk yogurt and ricotta cheese. Hungry yet? Here's a list of the Tuscan cheesemakers attending the festival.
