Imagine if your coffee in the morning could not only give you a charge but also charge your mobile phone?
That’s exactly the idea of two students from Denmark, Sergey Komardenkov and Vihanga Gore, who are developing an idea called Heat Harvest.
The basic idea, reported in Smithsonian, from the duo is to create some clever pads that capture energy from heat. Placed underneath your morning coffee the pads would generate thermoelectric energy just from the heat of the drink.
It’s still in concept stages but the idea seems like something that we’d love to see in the local coffee shop, or even small enough to carry a pad in your bag - imagine the sort of electricity it could generate from the heat of a laptop battery.
