THE PHOTOGRAPHY OF MODERNIST CUISINE EXHIBIT

If you are in the region of New Orleans any time in the next 6 months we recommend making some time to visit The Photography of Modernist Cuisine: The Exhibition, at the Southern Food and Beverage Museum, starting this week for a duration of six months.

The exhibit features more than 45 large-format photographs of food taken by Nathan Myhrvold and his team at Modernist Cuisine over the last seven years. The unique collection gives insight into the fascinating science which is at play in the Modernist Cuisine kitchens everyday.  

If you liked the acclaimed Modernist Cuisine: The Art and Science of Cooking and Modernist Cuisine at Home book both co-authored and published by Myhrvold, this is the exhibition for you. The creators combed through their library of more than 500,000 photographs to identify over 45 of their best images—many of them new or previously unpublished—to display for the exhibition.

What can you expect from the exhibit?

The exhibit has something for all. Both Photography and food lovers will be fascinated by the technical skill and arresting images and scientific insight that accompanies the photos.

Many of the photos are of gargantuam proportions at over six feet wide, giving the opporunity to see many images of food in a whole new way.

Following on from New Orleans, the exhibition will head to other cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and Chicago. It will also travel outside the U.S., but the team are still finalizing venues.
