Salone del Gusto and Terra Madre 2012
The Salone del Gusto Terra Madre 2012 event will bring together thousands of people from over 100 countries. It will be hosted in Turin, Italy on Oct 25-29
Last time the city of Turin made big headlines it was hosting the 2006 Winter Olympics. In less than three weeks, that same Olympic stadium will be the stage for one of the world's largest food festivals: Salone del Gusto and Terra Madre 2012.
From October 25-29 the festival will host more than 1,000 small-scale farmers, chefs and artisan producers from 100 countries. Organized by the international Slow Food organization, Salone del Gusto and Terra Madre celebrates the organization's founding principles of good, clean and fair food.
Visitors will be able to choose from over 100 taste workshops and Meet the Maker events hosted by wine and food experts. They will also have the opportunity to sample and buy productions from Africa, North America, South America, Europe and Asia.
Other highlights include the Theatre of Taste, where chefs will prepare their signature dishes, and an Enoteca space with over 1,200 wine labels. Salone del Gusto and Terra Madre 2012 will also feature over 40 conferences discussing global food policies and the food chain.
Previously held as two separate events, this is the first time that Salone del Gusto and Terra Madre unite as one gastronomic celebration.
