If you're going to drop $1,500 on a cocktail, it better have a diamond in it, right? That's just what was served up at Washington DC's swanky Heist nightclub this weekend.
The exuberant cocktail was served as a three-piece experience. For $1,500 you got a palate cleanser of Ace of Spades sorbet and fresh grapefruit segments. That was followed by a cocktail made from Armand de Brignac Champagne, Remy Martin XO Cognac, white fig jam, chocolate bitters and a fig garnish containing a loose diamond. A glass of Armand de Brignac Champagne chilled with frozen Champagne grapes sealed the deal.
The drink was prepared by mixologist Kris Carr to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Antwerp Diamond Heist - in which $100 million in precious gems and diamonds were stolen from the Antwerp Diamond Centre in Belgium never to be recovered. A portion of the proceeds from the cocktail were given to a local charity.
