Eat like the master, drink like the master with a special menu created by the Hotel Gritti Palace in Venice. But writing like the master might be a little harder.
On the occasion of Ernest Hemingway’s double anniversary, the Hotel Gritti Palace in Venice remembers its legendary guest, offering its clients a four-course menu (€ 88 per person) that included some of the author’s favourite dishes.
In the palazzo, built in 1525 by one of the Venetian doges Andrea Gritti, you can eat scampi risotto with crustacean bisque and ginger and honey-flavoured duck in aged port sauce, accompanied by a few glasses of Italian Valpolicella or Soave, which Hemingway particularly loved.
As a grand finale, a chocolate cigar in bourbon sauce, the executive chef Daniele Turco’s special tribute to Hemingway’s love of Cuban cigars and good whiskey, served with a selection of little biscuits and bonbons.
