The 2018 Sony World Photography Awards, produced by the World Photography Organization, is one of the world's finest contemporary photography competitions. This year, for the 11th edition of the contest, 320,000 photographers from 200 countries submitted a range of stunning pictures from around the world to be judged.
Zelda Cheatle, the Chair of Judges, commented: “In choosing the winners, the images all had to have something special - whether it be composition, impact, skill, a portrayal of a unique event or informing in a new way. Above all else, each winner had to be an exceptional photograph.
Many of the winners are non-professional photographers, making their success even more marked. All the winning pictures will go on display at the 2018 Exhibition in London, at Somerset House, from the 20 April to 6 May.
