Always wanted to try sous-vide cooking but lacked the space for yet another bit of kit on the kitchen counter? Good news. The space saving solution might just have arrived with the "re-invention of the modern cooktop." Enter the new Oliso SmartHub.
What is the SmartHub?
Essentially it's "two fantastic pieces of kitchen hardware—a water bath that nestles atop an induction burner that can be used independently—which means that you can do things like cook a sous vide steak, then sear it with the induction burner." reports Wired.

"Our research has taught us that consistently creating quality meals is all about temperature control. We developed a product that the home cook can use to create restaurant-quality food with only one piece of equipment." Oliso founder Ehsan Alipour told streetinsider.com
A smart controlled app communicates between the base and any appliance put on top. Vacuum seal your ingredients input your ingredients into the smarthub app select your ingredient and how you want to cook it and the app will work out the correct cooking conditions.
Taking up less than one square foot of counter space “It’s a combination that’s easy to imagine working well anywhere from a tiny New York apartment with a crummy stove to a roomy vacation home in the Hamptons,” according to Wired.
At the time of writing the project had only just launced on Kickstarter and the team had already secured over $8000 with 28 days remaining to reach their target of $50,000.
Backers have the opportunity to pledge for a SmartHub starting at $249 via the Kickstarter campaign.
If this seems a stretch too far, what about trying to make a home made sous-vide at home following Chefsteps technique.
