London-based photo illustrator Vanessa McKeown creates colorful and humorous food art images from everyday objects, used in unusual ways. "I like to mix things up and make them visually pleasing!", McKeown says about the inspiration behind her work and where it comes from: "I think it comes from it being so visually appealing and I guess I tend to go towards what I think looks pleasing. I love strawberries and bananas", revealed in an interview.
After studying Graphic Design Communication at Chelsea College of Art, with a background in film editing and design, McKeown uses her eye for detail to set up edible still lifes such as a sponge cake made with real cleaning sponges. When asked what's her favourite piece, she's no doubts: "I liked the Good Gone Bad mushroom where it looks like a sprinkled doughnut. Sprinkles make me very happy."
