The Brazilian chef Roberta Sudbrack has been picked as Latin America’s Best Female Chef by the Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants organisation.
Sudbrack, who started her culinary career pushing a hotdog stand round the streets of Brazil, took the award in her humble stride with the question: “If you believe you’re the best, why would you try to improve?”
She’s had a diverse career that saw her go from hot dog stand operator to the private chef inside Brazil’s presidential palace and her Roberta Sudbrack restaurant in Rio De Janeiro currently sits at number 13 on Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants list.
A truly hand on chef, Sudbrack has blocked all the modern trappings of equipment and technology inside her restaurant, instead opting to produce everything by hand.
Sudbrack will pick up the award at Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants ceremony on September 23rd.
