They say the moon is made of cheese but not for art student Yona Lee who used cookies to represent the 450 phases of the lunar cycle. Titled Yummy Moon, her delectable cookie art features partially eaten Nilla Wafers strategically arranged on a black backdrop.
Her creative lunar progression chart was part of her final thesis for the School of Visual Arts in Brooklyn. She explains:
"When I started this project, there was simple questions which triggered me to do this. When we grow up, why we lose our own imagination and curiosity? Why do we stop paying attention to the little sound of our heart? Because I remember the time when I was young, I was playing with sand and I was imagining the sand is rice, sand is fork and sand is dish something like that. I could imagine everything from it. However, at some point, I found that people stop calling sand as rice anymore when they grow up. They said sand is just sand...so I reconsidered an object through imagination and curiosity, to give it a voice."
