Want to know what trends are really rocking the restaurant industry this year? The folks at the National Restaurant Association surveyed more than 1,800 chefs from the American Culinary Federation to find out.
It turns out that the top 10 menu trends in 2013 include locally sourced meats and seafood, locally grown produce, environmental sustainability and cooking with whole grains.

Participating chefs were also asked about the best way to handle the increasing cost of ingredients. Surprisingly, only 4 percent of the chefs opted for increasing menu prices. Instead, menu changes and adjusting plate composition were the most popular options.
