After the glare from one of London's skyscrapers melted a Jaguar some days ago, a local journalist decided to fry an egg using light emitted from the building located at 20 Fenchurch Street.
The eggsciting task undertaken by James Waterson from City AM. Taking his adventure seriously, Waterson brought along all of the necessary ingredients required for frying an egg including oil, an omelette pan and tabasco sauce.
After settling into a cozy spot in front of the Viet Cafe (near the skyscraper), Waterson cracked an egg into a frying pan and watched it sizzle in the glare from the buidling. The temperature was measured at 92.6F (33.7C) and in just five minutes the egg was ready to eat.
The skyscraper in question had been previously nicknamed the Walkie Talkie due to its shape but has now been dubbed the Walkie Scorchie. We wonder what else people will try to cook in its glare...
