In 2012 we brought you the news of the world's first online only culinary school - The Escoffier School of Culinary Arts. The man behind the idea was Jack Larson who was also in charge of bringing the Le Cordon Bleu culinary schools from France to the United States.
Now it seems the school is doing well as they have just announced they will be starting an online Baking and Pastry Academy to alongside their existing cooking courses.
The course, which is expected to take between two and four months, costs $5,000 and includes access to all the online material, a personal chef mentor and a professional toolkit of baking essentials.
Speaking about the course and why they started it, the Vice President of Academics Mark Dowling, said: “From Cupcake Wars to the Cake Boss, baking has become a cultural phenomenon, spawning a new generation of aspiring professionals and serious foodies.
"Our program will equip students with a knowledge of ingredients and sustainable practices that is increasingly relevant for today’s bakers and pastry chefs.”
