The chef behind Edinburgh’s The Little Chartroom shares her favourite places to eat and drink in her hometown.

Edinburgh is where I grew up, I love it! There is something for everyone and it’s all within walking distance. Whether you want good food, drinks, art or great walks, it ticks all the boxes. I have lived abroad and down south but I have always been drawn back home in the end.

Aemilia

This pasta shop sells the best fresh pasta in Edinburgh. The braised beef shin anolini in brodo is phenomenal. The menu constantly changes and they take their sourcing of produce very seriously.

Nauticus

An amazing bar right across the road from my house. It’s the perfect local. Lovely staff serving delicious cocktails alongside pints of beer depending on what you fancy. The decor is really traditional and it’s just such a nice place to see away an evening.

Noto

Some of my favourite food in Edinburgh. Lots of delicious small plates that are really interesting and perfectly executed. The crab butter is one of Edinburgh’s great dishes!

Mistral

A lovely wine bar right next door to The Little Chartroom. It’s such a relaxed space with a great atmosphere. The team there can always recommend the perfect glass or bottle of wine to match your tastes.

Williams & Johnson

I spend a lot of time down here on my days off, it’s a lovely space and when the weather is good there is nothing better than being able to enjoy a coffee and one of their delicious pastries next to the water.

Yamato

This is a bit of a hidden gem in Edinburgh. A beautiful space serving phenomenal produce. All of the nigiri and the tempura is unreal!
