Say it with ranch dressing. A one-of-a-kind diamond created in a lab from ranch dressing by Hidden Valley Ranch has sold for $12,550 in an online auction.
The man-made diamond was created by heating ranch dressing to 2,500 degrees and then compressing the output under 400 tons of pressure for five months to make a 2 carat diamond that was then polished and cut to perfection and set in a 14 carat white gold band.
The piece was then put up for sale on eBay with all proceeds going to the charity Feeding America, raising $12,550.
The auction was held on March 17 to enable the lucky winning bidder to receive the ranch diamond by 20 March, which is National Proposal Day in the US.
"Last year, when one of our custom Valentine's Day bottles was used in a marriage proposal, we were inspired," said Deb Crandall, marketing director at Hidden Valley Ranch. "We saw a love of ranch become part of one of life's most beautiful moments. It made us wonder, how can we make this act of love even more memorable?"
Feeding America is a charity that helps millions of people having trouble paying their grocery bills. With a nationwide network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries; the organisation helps one in seven Americans.
