How To Make Cinnamon Toast
Cinnamon toast - a classic childhood favourite made with sliced bread, cinnamon, sugar and butter - has remained unchanged since it was introduced as a cheaper version of French toast in Europe in the 15th century. There are different versions and methods to make this crispy, buttery and sweet dessert. Depending on the variation, cinnamon and sugar may be added before or after toasting, and you can make cinnamon toast using an oven or a skillet. Here's how to make it in a skillet.

Step 01
Step 02
Butter one side of the bread and sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon sugar mixture. Repeat on the other side of the bread with more butter and cinnamon sugar mixture.
Step 03
Melt some butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the bread slices when it begins to bubble. Using a fork, swirl the bread so that it absorbs the butter. If the pan is dry, add additional butter.
Step 04
Cook for about 2 to 3 minutes, adjusting the heat as needed to avoid burning until the bread is nicely caramelised.
Step 05
Serve the toasts and sprinkle with the reserved cinnamon sugar mixture.
