Team Russia has been forced to cancel its participation in the Bocuse d’Or Europe, to be held in Budapest on 23-24 March, due to the logistical complications created by the ongoing situation in Ukraine.
A statement from Bocuse d’Or explained that the Russian team, who were scheduled to compete on the second day of the event, would no longer be taking part.
“In the international context of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the International Organizing Committee of the competition acknowledges the impossibility for the Russian team to participate in the Bocuse d'Or Europe in 2022,” it said.

Posting on Instagram, Team Russia made their own announcement, saying: “Friends, due to the inability to send the necessary equipment to participate in the European Bocuse d'Or semi-finals by land or air, problems related to obtaining visas and air travel in the current situation, the Russian team is forced to cancel the trip to the current continental selection.”
Competing in the Bocuse d’Or is notoriously complicated logistically, with the transport of people, equipment and fresh ingredients as well as the sourcing of local suppliers to ensure the highest-quality food gets plated in the very tight time slot allotted.
When and where is the Bocuse d’Or Final 2022?
There will now be 18 teams competing for the European prize, with 10 of them obtaining a place for the Bocuse d'Or Grand Final due to take place on 22-23 January 2023, in Lyon, France. On the programme this year: a platter based on venison and foie gras, and a vegetarian dish honouring local varieties of potatoes.
