The new year kicks off with some world class food events throughout January. Whether you're truffle hunting in Napa Valley or ringing in the new year in Tasmania, there's an impressive mix of global events on offer.

This month also brings some world class chef collective events, pushing the boundaries in innovation and discussion. From the second ever edition of Russian IKRA festival with the world's best chefs, to talking sustainability in the Alps at Care's Ethical Days.

Taste of Tasmania, Australia
28 December to 3 January

The Taste of Tasmania unfolds at Hobart’s spectacular waterfront for seven days and nights. Over 70 stallholders, the festival offers visitors a range of seafood, cheeses, berries, cool-climate wines, boutique beers and ciders and much more with plenty of toe tapping live music to see in the New Year.

Napa Valley Truffle Festival, US
12-15 January

From 12 to 15 January chefs, food fans, truffle hunting dogs and sommeliers will gather for the 8th annual festival celebrating the black truffle. Highlights include; truffle Hunting, Michelin starred chef dinners and a truffle marketplace.

Care's Ethical Chef Days, Italy
14 -17 January

Chefs gather to debate "sustainability" in the picturesque Alta Badia region from 14 to 17 January for the third-ever event packed with dinners, workshops and conferences which gathers journalists, industry experts and of course chefs, from around the world to debate important topics in the industry.

22 - 24 January

This long established and respected calendar essential brings some of the most creative minds in cooking together. Elena Arzak leads a talk on "Imagination Challenge" while Andoni Luis Aduriz anaylyes the importance of origin. IKRA, Sochi, Russia
31 January to 4 February
