Cookbook.19: Art and Cuisine meet in Southern France
What happens when 26 of the world’s cutting edge chefs combine forces with 20 contemporary artists? Find out from 9 Feb to 12 May at Cookbook in Montpelier.
Cookbook.19 returns to Montpellier (France) for its second edition, from 9 February to 12 May 2019, and promises to go even further into the relationship between art and cuisine.
First held in 2013 at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, the returning project is organized by the same team of curators: Nicolas Bourriaud, art critic, curator and co-founder of the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and La Panacée MOCO in Montpellier and Andrea Petrini, globetrotter, culinary journalist, creator of the Gelinaz! culinary group and of the World Restaurant Awards.
COOKBOOK 2.0
After five years, Cookbook is back with an exceptional blend of chefs and artists, at La Panacée MOCO, a unique institution dedicated to contemporary art located in the heart of the southern France city.
In 2013, the exhibition centred mainly on the art and the culinary process. This edition will be more about the cross over of art in the culinary world and vice versa. Artists will use food and ingredients as material for edible artworks, pushing us to develop our sense of smell or taste, while chefs will reveal the spirit of their culinary philosophy in unexpected ways.
A line-up of twenty-five chefs from all over the world will be involved in the event, including Ana Ros, Virgilio Martinez, Mauro Colagreco and René Redzepi and many others (see the full list below), using the exhibition as an opportunity to discover other means of expressing of their powerful creativity.
LIVE PERFORMANCES
The exhibition will assemble 25 of the world’s cutting edge chefs plus 20 contemporary artists, all of them under 50 years old, and will culminate in several experimental culinary and artistic installations and performances, which promise to unfold in the spaces of La Panacée in the months to come.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a programme of events: conferences, performances and screenings of chefs and artists, that will enable visitors to be immersed in a multisensorial artistic experience.
