This month a whiskey sent into space over three years ago will be brought back to earth and tested to see how the spirit has matured in microgravity.
The whiskey, produced by Ardbeg, was sent as part of an experiment with the International Space Station and is the first time whiskey has ever left Earths atmosphere.
The samples will be parachute back to earth on September 11th where they will undergo a number of tests to understand how microgravity affects the way micro organic compounds in the drink react with oak - compared with the same maturation process on Earth.
If the team find that microgravity does in fact have a different affect on how whiskey matures, who knows, maybe our next tipple could come with an entirely new, out of this world, taste.
